Join the Friends of Shakespeare Garden in welcoming Mark Stoffer Hunter, expert on all things historical regarding Linn County and Cedar Rapids, for an engaging hour in the Shakespeare Garden.
Mark will give a presentation on the history of Ellis Park, going back to its beginnings as the private property of West Cedar Rapids pioneer, Robert Ellis and his family. Mark will also share information about Ellis Park from the early 1900’s, including the creation of the Shakespeare Garden and its connection with the artist Grant Wood. Included in the talk will be information about the Time Check neighborhood and Ellis Boulevard NW.
A light refreshment will be provided. Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the presentation and get a peek at the garden just beginning to bloom.
