Event Description

It’s been said that more plants are killed by overwatering than underwatering. Join Linn County Master Gardener Phil Pfister at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) as we discuss when and how to water seedlings, transplants, containers, yards and gardens. We'll discuss watering under a variety of conditions that most gardeners will encounter. The techniques will include indoor and outdoor conditions. Phil Pfister has lived in Marion for 40 years and, since retiring, he now devotes his time to the community as a Linn County Master Gardener volunteer through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. He manages the greenhouse at Lowe Park in Marion, helps plan the annual Master Gardener plant sale and shares his knowledge at farmers markets in the community. He has also taught many classes in the community through his Library Talks, at the Linn County Master Garden Winter Gardening Fair and to various groups. Phil became a Master Gardener in 2007 and is now a Lifetime Master Gardener, having accrued ten or more years of service and 1,500 volunteer hours as an active Master Gardener. A free-will offering will be accepted. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
