Join us on Saturday, May 17 at 1pm when we host author Rachel McCarthy James in conversation with Lyz Lenz at the downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library’s Whipple Auditorium. This event is free, open to the public, and followed by a book signing.
Whack Job is the story of the axe. From the first axe murder nearly half a million years ago to the brutal harnessing of the axe in warfare, Whack Job sheds light on how the axe has been used throughout history.
Rachel McCarthy James was born and raised in Kansas and studied writing and politics at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. Her first nonfiction book, The Man from the Train about a string of serial murders at the turn of the 20th century including the infamous Villasca, Iowa murders, was published in 2017.
