Event Description

Parapsychology - or the study of anomalous human experiences outside the realm of psychology - has been a passion of Darcie McGrath for 30 years. Mentoring with numerous researchers of multiple scientific disciplines, she's investigated unusual events ranging from psychic experiences, to near-death experiences to apparitional cases across the country. While teaching at Kirkwood Community College for over ten years, she has had students share many stories, but none quite like the Mason House Inn. An open-minded skeptic, she was used to keeping her expectations low when it came to commercially-advertised haunted locations. Five years later, she left, but not without inviting various investigators, psychics, and researchers to the house in an attempt to explain the unexplainable. Come and visit with Darcie as she shares hers - and others' experiences - as well as collected evidence from the 179 year-old inn that inspired a trilogy of books, blending the mysterious world of psychic phenomenon with the intriguing history of the Des Moines River Valley.
