Bethany Lutheran Church is celebrating with thankful hearts. The public is invited to “Thankful Hearts,” a worship concert benefiting Bethany Lutheran Food Pantry. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 23 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2202 Forest Drive SE.
The concert admission is free, and a freewill offering will be collected. All proceeds will benefit Bethany Lutheran Food Pantry.
Music will be led by Bethany’s contemporary music director Luke Viertel and the church’s praise band. Attendees will also hear from pantry leaders about the work they do and how to support their mission.
“By joining us for 'Thankful Hearts' you will not only be supporting the critical mission of Bethany Lutheran Food Pantry, but we hope you will be filled with thankfulness and praise as we enter into the season of Thanksgiving and Advent,” Viertel said.
Bethany Lutheran Food Pantry is located in the lower level of Bethany Lutheran Church and is open to the public Sundays, 1-3 p.m.
The pantry sees evidence of the need for food assistance in the Cedar Rapids community. When the pantry opened its doors in 2021, it served between 1 and 50 households weekly. The pantry now serves between 50 and 100 households weekly and sees first-time visitors each Sunday.
Community members are invited to partner with the pantry by attending the November 24 concert. “We hope you leave grateful for the Lord's work being done in our pantry, in our community, and in our hearts,” Viertel said.
