This presentation will offer a primer of foundational principles in preservation practices that can be applied to books, documents, and various heirlooms in personal and family’s collection. Attendees will gain insights into to field of library preservation and book conservation, and will be introduced to guidelines for sourcing and using materials that can support the care of their valued book and paper possessions. To conclude the presentation, attendees will learn about ways to search for private conservation or restoration services, and what to generally expect from such a project.
