Iowa’s Jazz Station reunites some of Eastern Iowa’s best-known musicians for the 50th Anniversary edition of Jazz Under the Stars. Join KCCK for free, family-friendly jazz concerts in Cedar Rapids’ Noelridge Park. Each concert features both a headliner and a young artist ensemble. Food trucks and kids activities on-site. Admission is free.
Closing out the series on August 28 is Funk Legends. Bands like Tower of Power, The Brothers Johnson, and James Brown had a huge impact on Eastern Iowa musicians growing up in the 80s and 90s. This led to the formation of groups like Mean Street and The Hell Horns, Funk Stop, 10 of Soul, Funk Daddies. Funk 101 will serve as “house band” for a show that will feature past members of these storied ensembles.
