Event Description

55+ Movie Day, Dreamgirls: The time is the 1960s and Deena, Effie, and Lorrell are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime when their singing trio is discovered by a talent agent who starts to mold them into a national hit machine. The women quickly discover that fame will take a toll on their friendship and will have a higher cost than any of them expected. This 2006 film stars Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson (in her Oscar and Golden Globe winning performance) and Jamie Foxx. Bridge to Opportunities meets at 2100 1st Ave. NE, Cedar Rapid, directly across from Cottage Grove Place and Cottage Grove Ave. (This is Refugee City Church, the former Four Oaks building.)
